Dr. Laura Granato is the Clinical Director and founder of Granato Counseling Services. She graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Psychological Services, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a Ph.D in Counselor Education. Dr. Granato has held faculty positions at George Washington University and Johns Hopkins University where she provided training and supervision to counselors. Dr. Granato is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years experience counseling children, adults, couples, and families from a family systems perspective.

Dr. Granato is the founder of both the Granato Group Integrative Counseling Services and the Federal Leadership Institute. For the past 20 years she has focused on providing high-quality and high-impact counseling and consulting services that utilize validated research and strength-based principles for individuals, community, the workplace and organizations. Dr. Granato also supervises providers who are going through residency.

Dr. Granato is an expert in child development and parenting practices. She studied with Aaron Beck, Salvador Minuchin, and Martin Seligman. Dr. Granato currently focuses on working with parents in high-conflict, child custody cases, with a goal of ensuring that children’s best interests and well-being are promoted throughout the process.
